In my opinion, Free Agent Analysis is often done in reverse order. Sites tell you everyone and anyone you should consider picking up, but not who to drop. Then a day or two later, they update their “projections going forward list.” At AceInTheHoleFantasyFootball.com, I update my TOP 250 list before I recommend pick-ups. That way, you can check my Rankings when trying to decide who to drop to see if that player is in fact ranked lower than your pick-up.
My personal thoughts on Free Agent Analysis:
- Every action requires an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, if you want to pick-up a player, you need to drop a player. If your team is already stacked, don’t go overboard with the Transactions. You don’t want to drop a player who will strengthen your competition. However…
- In Fantasy Football, much like poker, if you play too conservatively you will never Win. You have got to take some chances and can’t be afraid to pull the trigger when managing your team. Don’t be afraid to go for upside in place of the steady, but low-scoring players.
- In general, go for the long-term pick-up over a one or two week plugin.
My Blind Bidding Report, which will be available tomorrow, will give you a better idea of who is in demand and what size bid will be required. For those not in a Blind Bidding League, the report will also help in prioritizing your bids.
When making your Free Agent choices, please use my Best Damn Player Rankings and TOP 250 as tools in making your decisions. Within the Player Rankings, realize that players are tiered; all players receiving the same Total Grade are comparable.
In the following chart, I have listed the players mentioned in Boxscore BOOMS! – Opportunity Knocks. I have included Food for Thought when considering your bids. If you are in a League which awards the first pick to the team with the worst record, then the Grades, along with your team needs, should be your primary guide. In a Blind Bidding League, the Blind Bidding Report will help in determining what size bid is needed and the Food for Thought, along with your team needs, will help in deciding if it is worth it.
| Team | Position | Name | Grade | Food For Thought |
| DAL | RB | FELIX JONES | C+ | It's doubtful that Jones is available in many Leagues, but if so GO GET HIM! |
| TEN | QB | JAKE LOCKER | C- | It looks like Locker will likely get the start in Week 15 vs IND. Hopefully if you are still playing, you have better options. |
| ARI | QB | JOHN SKELTON | C- | See above |
| HOU | WR | KEVIN WALTER | D | Walter's value is directly tied to the health of Andre Johnson. If Johnson is Out again, then Walter is playable vs CAR in Week 15. If you are hurting at WR, he is worth a stash-and-see. |
| GB | WR | DONALD DRIVER | D | Driver should be targeted in all Leagues in which he is available. Jennings is likely Out until the Playoffs, making old man Driver relevant again in the most explosive passing offense in the NFL. |
| MIN | WR | DEVIN AROMASHODU | D- | Aromashodu is worth a look. He has received 25 targets in the last 2 games. Unfortunately, he has only managed to catch 10 of them for 137 yards. Still, 25 targets is impressive, and MIN enjoys a top 10 remaining schedule for WRs. |
| WAS | WR | DONTE STALLWORTH | D- | Stallworth's 4-96 Week 14 was greatly aided by a 51-yard reception. WAS does have the 3rd easiest remaining schedule for WRs, but Donte is definitely a high risk play. |
| OAK | WR | LOUIS MURPHY | F | With Moore and/or Ford likely to return in Week 15, Murphy has no value. |
| MIA | TE | ANTHONY FASANO | F | Inconsistent and limited upside. |
| DEN | WR | MATT WILLIS | F | Willis got a few looks with Royal Out, but there's no way you can count on future production. |
| TB | WR | DEZMON BRISCOE | F | Don't bother |
| OAK | TE | KEVIN BOSS | F | Achieved 23% of his season catches and 50% of his TDs in Week 14. Don't bother |
| KC | WR | JERHEME URBAN | F | Don't bother |
| JAC | WR | JARETT DILLARD | F | Don't bother |
| JAC | WR | KASSIM OSGOOD | F | Don't bother |
| DEN | RB | LANCE BALL | F | Don't bother |
| CHI | RB | KAHLIL BELL | F | Bell is worth a look in PPR Leagues. He had 5 grabs in Week 14, and looks to be the best option as a dual-threat RB in place of Forte. |
| DET | RB | KEILAND WILLIAMS | F | Williams piled up 60 yards from scrimmage in the absence of Kevin Smith and with Morris getting dinged up. If Smith is Out again (unlikely), then Williams has limited value. |
| KC | RB | JACKIE BATTLE | F | Don't bother |
| NO | RB | CHRIS IVORY | F | Limited upside even if Ingram misses more time. |
| MIN | QB | JOE WEBB | F | Even if he starts for Ponder, which MIN says won't happen, you should have better options at this point in the season. |
| MIA | QB | JP LOSMAN | F | Don't bother |

| Others: | | | | |
| DEN | WR | DEMARYIUS THOMAS | | I was dead wrong on Thomas last week, but many must have agreed with me, as he is still available in many Leagues. Thomas followed up his 4-144-2 performance in Week 13 with a 7-78-1 in Week 14. He looks to be Tebow's favorite option and Week 15 brings the best possible match-up vs NE. |
| GB | WR | JAMES JONES | | Jenning's injury makes all other GB WRs more valuable. |
| GB | RB | RYAN GRANT | | I can't imagine that Grant is available in many Leagues, but if so go get him. |
